We really don't believe in a lot of breastfeeding "gadgets" but rather feel that the breastfeeding experience should be left as natural as possible! Sometimes, however, there are situations that can cause a breastfeeding relationship to fail or cause a lot of discomfort to mom and babe! The items featured on this page and our "Natural Nursing Necessity" page are items that I personally believe in and have used... and while everyone will not need these items, we want to provide them to those who do. Unless you are separated from your baby, you will probably never need a breast pump, but if you work or have a baby with special problems a breastpump can be an absolute lifesaver. Pumps can be used to increase your milk supply and are also wonderful just to use during the time shortly after you milk comes in... to help relieve engorgement and make life a bit more comfortable. If you have inverted or flat nipples, a breast pump can also help draw out your nipples making it easier for your baby to latch on. We have tried to provide the best pumps we could find in 3 different price ranges. Purely Yours Breast Pump
The Purely Yours breast pump is a great small pump made by the premier hospital quality pump manufacturer, Ameda Egnell (now Hollister). This small lightweight pump has eight suction settings and four cycle settings to help simulate your baby's nursing pattern. The dual hygieni-kit allows for single or double pumping and the silicone diaphragms keep your milk from impurities. This pump can be run on AC adapter, Car Adapter (sold separately) or AA batteries. Pumping Free Attachment Kit
This is neat little item that allows you to pump "hands free" with any fully automatic breast pump. These multi-pronged plastic adapters snap on your breastpump and they hook to your bra with elastic loops. Designed t work with Medela Pumps and Bras, we tested it with both Ameda Egnell rental, Purely Yours, Medela Pumps and many bra styles. By making minor adaptations t the suggested technique, this kit will work well with most bras and pumps. It did not work with the Nurtue III accessory kit. We wish this kit came standard with the Medela Breast Pump.

Mini Electric Breast Pump
The new and improved Mini Electric Breastpump from Medela has a new rounder look and a new soft yellow color. This is a classic little autocycling breastpump that runs from electricity or with 2 AA batteries (not included) or by manual use. It is very small and efficient! 90 day limited warranty. This is best for short term separations as the motor may tend to burn out with heavy duty use.
