Commercial and Cottage Industry Information and Regulations

Thank you for your interest in our commercial regulations. If you are interested in sewing for profit, we ask that you do so in accordance to the following terms.

When you purchase any of our patterns, it is licensed for personal and home use only. This means that if you purchase a pattern you may make it for yourself, friends or family in any quantity as long as you do not charge in any way shape or form for the finished product. You may also purchase a pattern and hire a dressmaker to sew it for you. As another example, someone may purchase her own pattern and hire YOU to sew it for them. This does not violate copyright or licensing laws.

Customer Dressmakers:
If possible, encourage your client to purchase her own pattern. She may order it from us, or you may purchase from us at a wholesale price and sell them directly to your customer making a profit on the pattern as well as your labor. If your client purchases her own pattern, you may make it for her any number of times without any further fees because her purchase gives her the right to make it, (or have you make it for her) as many times as she wishes for her own personal use. If you do not require her to purchase her own pattern, you will need to purchase a "Cottage Industry License" according to the terms in the paragraph below.

Cottage Industry:
If you are a mom or dad working out of your home you may purchase a "Cottage Industry License" which will give you the right to use Nursing ClassicsT or Babe Too!T patterns in your profit making enterprise. The cost for the license is $100.00 per year or $1000.00 for a limited lifetime license. 10 consecutive years of purchasing a yearly license will be considered a lifetime license. With payment of the fee, you will receive a free subscription to our newsletter to keep you updated about new designs. We will also issue a certificate for you to display once we receive your payment and signed license agreement. Please see the Cottage Industry License Agreement for more information. To qualify for a cottage industry license, you must do the sewing yourself with no outside hired help. This low cost license if designed to help mom's make extra money while staying home with their baby. This is not a license for any type of commercial for factory type production. The Sunrise Design patterns and any other pattern lines we carrry are not our original designs and we will not give you permission to use them commercially in any way. You must contact each copyright owner personally if you are interested in using them for anything other than your own personal use.

A specially priced Web Site package is available to contractors who would like to display their work through our Web Site company Sewell Computer. You can request this information from Elizabeth Lee or Sewell Computer.

Commercial Production:
At this time we are not granting anyone permission to use our patterns in any type commercial production. This includes any type of factory situation or an situation where you are hiring or contracting other people to work for you. We reserve the rights to change the above regulations at any time.

Thank you for your interest! As a final note: The cost of developing new designs is astronomical and the cottage industry fees help with this cost. We are much like the music industry in that every time a pattern is copied, sold or distributed illegally, we lose a much needed sale. If you were to hire a pattern maker to develop new designs for you it would cost you hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. The only way we have of continuing this business is by the sale of patterns and or licensing fees. The cottage license fee is very small compared to what many companies charge, but we want to keep the opportunity open to every one that really needs it. We want to keep everyone honest and above board. This small fee makes it possible for you to do that. Cottage License Fees are non-refundable.
