Nursing Classics 202 The baby sling has been around in one form or another for thousands of years. As busy moms include a baby in their life, the sling has been a natural development to keep the baby close while continuing with work that must be done! We've worked hard to blend the simple classic design of ancient baby slings with a few modern conveniences to develop the very best baby sling ever! Our unique design allows you to adjust each side of the sling individually to provide just the right amount of "tension" to support your baby! The sling is designed wide enough to provide a deep pocket for your young baby, and a nice big safe seat for your bigger baby! You can safely carry a child from newborn up to about 35 lbs! We added nice wide padded edges to provide cushion to keep you comfortable as well! The tail end of our sling features a unique design that is MUCH safer for your baby AND much easier to sew! You'll be so pleased with how quickly and easily this baby sling sews up!

In addition to being easy to sew, this baby sling is easy to use. It slips on easily and by adjusting the position of the baby and the shape of the sling, you can use it in almost any situation with any baby! Babies just love to be cuddled in this sling, and if they fall asleep, you can easily slip the sling off to lay the baby down without disturbing your baby! Undo the double rings, and your sling will make a nice clean changing area for baby with a built in "pillow" to cushion baby's head! There is absolutely nothing more convenient!

The basic sling comes in three sizes, and takes about an hour to sew! (Allow a little extra time for your first sling!) We've included suggestions and ideas for storage pockets, clips for keys and toys ... so you really can be a "hands free" mom! To round out the pattern, we've included patterns for a little fanny pack for you to carry diapers and other "necessities" as well as a basic shoulder bag in case you need to carry something bigger! For your "bigger" little girls, we've included a pattern so you can make them their very own doll sling! Our legendary easy to follow sewing guide will make this easy to sew! You'll want to make several in fabrics to coordinate with all of your nursing clothing!

Hi,
I just received my sling pattern yesterday & last night I sat down & made a sling. Because I live in sunny south Florida I didn't make the padding double thickness as indicated in the instructions, I only made it single thickness & it worked like a charm. I used a funky batik pattern, cotton fabric (the mottled dye effect is perfect for hiding drool & spit up). I have a few ready made slings but the one I made from your pattern is the most comfortable one I now own. Using the pattern as a guide I plan on making another sling with unpadded rails & a lightly padded shoulder for the summer months when it gets really hot.

Thanks for making such a simple pattern with wonderfully clear instructions!

Debbie from Florida

I Love your patterns, especially the sling! How do people live without one? I made two, so we would always have one, even when the other was in the laundry. My 14 month old brings it to me and dumps it in my lap several times a day. It almost always calms her down when she's upset. She goes to sleep in it at night when her Daddy takes her out for a sling ride under the stars. Unless she's completely exhausted, she refuses to go to sleep at night until she's had her sling ride with Daddy. Thank you for making this magic possible. Debbie from Mississippi

Just wanted to say thank you for the beautiful work you do! I made a sling when my third child was 6 months old. He used it until he was 2 1/2yrs and then kindly handed it down to his brother. How did I live without one? Funny thing is, I'd tried other ones and they weren't comfortable or deep enough for larger babes. I've also made several outfits from your patterns. People can't believe they are hand-made. A testiment to your patterns, not my sewing, believe me! I wanted to make a sling for my friend's birthday and had lent my pattern out. They lost it. Well, I ordered one again and it came in 3 days!! Enough time to get my friend's made! Thanks! Oh, and got your new catalog and saw #307. Now I need a new pattern (sigh) :) Thanks, LORI from Hollywood,MD

Just wanted to let you know that I love your sling - after the comments I received (all positive) from the general public and my pregnant friends, it has become my favorite gift for baby showers. Thanks for a wonderful pattern! Andrea from Bronx, NY

I LOVE your sling! My sister made one for me when I had my baby and it has saved my life more than once when my baby didn't want to be put down, but I had to get things done around the house. Shandrae from Logan, UT
