The Ultimate Mother Cover!

Nursing Classics #209 is a very innovative idea in sewing nursing clothing! This is a great fashion classic designed to be worn UNDER jackets or sweaters to provide easy and quick breastfeeding access while reducing bulk.

It is easy to sew and with our new pattern, you can sew it in any one of 8 different views to provide you with fashion basics to complement your entire wardrobe!

We first started working with the mother cover idea in 1998 when we purchased the BestFedŽ Fashions business from Jean Hoelscher. She had originally developed the mother cover and was offering it ready made, but it was simply a neckline with two fabric panels and no side seam. I didn't really like it much because I thought it would be uncomfortable to wear, so I revised the pattern a bit, adding side-seams and tweaking the necklines a bit, and we started selling simple mother covers ready made... but with no pattern available. As a patternmaker, this was a first for me. I was really surprised to see how popular the mother cover was! More and more moms called asking for a pattern. I had stumbled accross a design idea that I didn't think was very good and found out it was great!

Thanks to mother feedback, we have expanded the mother cover to create 8 looks in all, 3 designed for knit fabrics and 5 designed for woven fabrics. The new woven necklines are especially fun to wear and can create really nice sophisticated looks! We worked hard to revise each neckline to create a perfect look that will work well under a jacket.

The mother cover comes in 5 sizes and will fit moms with a hip measurement of up to 54". Larger sizes can be easily adapted by cutting the side seams larger.
