Because the mother cover is very open throught the bust area,
it is easier to use the hip measurement to select your size unless your hips are
much smaller then your bustline. For knit fabrics, allow 0-4 inches of ease through
the hip area. For woven fabrics allow 2-4 inches of ease through the hip area.
You may combine sizes to get the best fit. If you do this, use the yardage requirements
for the largest size.

| Interfacing for Woven Views: You
will need 1/4 yards of interfacing for views 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8. If you want self-fabric
interfacing add 1/4 yard to the yardage figures listed above. For iron on interfacing
purchase 1/4 yard. See sewing guide for more information. |
|
All Views: For smaller sizes, you may be able
to fit you layout on 1 yard of fabric, but not if you have a low cut neckline.
For this reason, we recommend you purchase the suggested amount of fabric. The
largest size (XXL) will barely fit on 60" wide fabric, so if you are using
58" wide fabric or adding additional width to fit your hip measurement, you
may need to purchase an additional length of fabric.
|
Yardage figures are as precise as possible. Please allow extra for
shrinkage and pre-wash all fabric before cutting. All layouts and yardage figures
for this pattern are for fabrics with or without nap. Additional fabrics make
be needed to match stripes, plaids or one-way designs.
Suggested fabrics:
Views One, Two and Three: These views are suitable for knits only.
For view one, you may use a coordinating purchased ribbing if desired, or you
may use self-fabric ribbing if it has a good degree of stretch. Fabrics for views
2 & 3 must have a good degree of stretch in order to go over the head. Use 100%
cotton knits, cotton/poly knits, T-shirt knits, textured knits or ribbed knits.
Views 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8: These views are suitable for any lightweight woven
fabric that drapes well and will work well under a jacket or sweater. We suggest
washable rayons, polyester blends, washable silks and satins, peachskin, moleskin
or challis. Light transparent fabrics are not appropriate for any view. Prints
and multicolored fabrics are idea.
Notions:
All Views: Thread.
Views 4-8: Interfacing. See above yardage chart and read pattern before
you purchase interfacing.
