Yardage for Nursing Classics #204

This classic scoop neck nursing dress offers a variety of options. Princess lines on the bodice carry down to the skirt and conceal a central nursing opening. You can make this dress sleeveless, with short sleeves or with tapered long sleeves. The waist is slightly higher than the natural waistline and ever so flattering. This dress is simple and easy to sew! It doesn't even have a zipper! Designed with just enough ease to pull easily over the head, the extra fullness is pulled in with tie belts in the back. Choose any hem length from just above the knee to below the calf. By choosing different fabrics, this dress will take you from very casual to very dressy situations with ease.

Please note: The yardage information for hem length is to give you a general idea of how much fabric you will need. The shorter hem length is slightly above the knee on a woman about 5'6" tall. The longer hem length is tea length or below the calf.

Yardage figures are as precise as possible. Please allow extra for shrinkage and pre-wash fabric before cutting. All layouts and yardage figures are for fabrics without nap. Additional fabrics may be needed to match stripes, plaids, or one-way designs.

Suggested fabrics: Basic nursing dress: colorful cotton knits, cotton/poly knits, cottons, cotton/poly blends, washable rayons, lightweight denim, challis. Light transparent fabrics are not appropriate. Prints and multicolored fabrics are ideal. Front Overlay Lining (optional): The basic dress yardage above uses facings, but you may want to line the overlay if your fabric is sheer or very bulky. You may use self fabric for this or you may purchase a lightweight lining fabric. See the sewing guide before you decide what method you wish. Yardage for the lining is above.

Notions: View One: 1 package bias tape to finish armhole openings. All views: Thread. Small amount of iron-on interfacing for neckline facings. 1/2 yard 1/4" wide elastic to secure nursing openings. Optional: Large snaps or medium security Velcro dot to secure nursing opening.
