This classic jacket pattern features optional nursing
access and a zip in panel to allow extra room for carrying your baby!
The nursing openings are securely hidden by an overlay that extends
into deep cozy pockets! The zip-in baby panel allows a mother to keep
you baby nice and warm without carrying an additional blanket. The
jacket can be worn over a baby carrier and the baby panel can be adjusted
around the baby's face by zipping the zippers up or down on either
side. Nursing Classics #206 also includes patterns for a neck cozy
and baby hat. Designed for polar fleece fabrics, this unlined jacket
provides lots of versatility and can be worn throughout many seasons.
The sleeves may be worn with an elastic cuff or hemmed. Instructions
are included for adjusting the jacket for tall sizes and petites.
Line drawings of the views are included on the sewing guide.

*Bonus: When using 60" fabrics, you will
also be able to fit both a baby hat and a neck cozy from the layout with the baby
panel.
|
|
Baby Hat**
|
1/2 yard of 60" wide fabric will make 2 hats.
|
|
Neck Cozy**
|
1/3 yard of 60" wide polar fleece fabric will make two
neck cozies.
|
|
** The baby hat and neck cozy are not suitable
for woven fabrics. We recommend polar fleece for both items, but a nice knit sweatshirt
fleece with a good degree of stretch may also produce satisfactory results.

More information on fitting and how to select the proper size is included
in the sewing guide. Yardage figures are as precise as possible. Please
allow extra for shrinkage and pre-wash fabric before cutting. All layouts
and yardage figures are for fabrics with or without nap except as indicated
above. Additional fabrics may be needed to match stripes, plaids, or
one way designs.
Suggested fabrics:
Basic Jacket and Baby Panel: This coat was designed to be
fashioned from Polar fleece, but other coat weight fabrics would also
work well. A few examples of other appropriate fabrics might be Corduroy,
Berber Fleece, Wool and Wool/Blend Coat weight fabrics, Fleece and heavy
sweatshirt type fabrics. Because of the multiple layers in this pattern,
avoid fake furs or extremely heavy fabrics.
Notions:
Basic Jacket: One 30" long sport zipper or parka zipper. (28" long for
petites). Parka zippers can open from the bottom as well as the top and are a
bit more expensive. If you use a parka zipper for the coat, use a parka zipper
for the baby panel (optional) as well or they will not be able to zip together.
Optional notions for jacket: Two 12 or 14" nylon self-healing zippers to secure
nursing openings (optional - read sewing guide before you purchase these), 1-1/4
yards of cording for drawstring (Get enough to go around your wasitline with some
to spare. Larger sizes may need more), 1 package of 1" flat bias tape to form
casing for drawstring (optional), 2 cord locks, Thread.
Baby Panel: One 24" long separating sport zipper or parka zipper (22" long
for petites). Use the same type of zipper, either sport or parka, that you used
for your basic jacket. One 2" long piece of 1" wide waistband elastic, Thread.
Baby Hat and Neck Cozy: Thread.
