The above fitting measurements vary depending on the type of fabric you are using and the amount of wearing ease desired in your slip, dress or jumper. Allow less ease for a slip than for a dress. If using knit fabrics you may get by with almost no ease. Base the fit of the Nursing Popover on the hip measurement allowing 4-6 inches of ease.

The above yardage figures are for the longest length. For 60" wide fabrics, you can save some fabric by having a seam up the center back of the dress. View 2, size L requires only 3 1/4 yards if you add a seam up the back. Make similar yardage adjustments for the other sizes.

 

Yardage and layouts are for fabrics with or without nap. Additional fabric may be needed to match striped plaids or one-way designs. Allow extra for shrinkage. Yardage figures are for longest length. You will need less fabric for shorter lengths.

Suggested Fabrics: Views 1 & 2: Cotton knits, cotton poly knits, slinky stretch fabrics, stretch velvets. rayon, soft drapy woven fabrics. View 3: Sheer nylon or batiste fabrics, For negligee: nylon tricot, knits, wovens... any pretty fabric that will drape well and is washable. View 4: This view is designed for stretch knits only. Woven fabrics will not fit easily over the head.

Notions: All Views: Thread to match fabric. For some fabrics you may want to add interfacing to the neckline facings. This is optional. Please read the sewing guide before you begin. View 2: 1/2 yard 1/4" wide clear stretch elastic. (optional). This is for an optional curved finish for the nursing opening. Read the sewing guide before you begin.
